SKILLS / SOCIAL CONNECTION

SHED INSIDE KING EDWARD

Sawdust. Tea. Actual conversation.

A welcoming, supported workshop for adults to make, mend and learn together at King Edward Community Centre in Laindon. No experience needed — just curiosity.

WHY IT MATTERS

A workshop is about more than wood.

Making something with your hands gives people a reason to come along and a natural way into conversation. The finished object matters, but so do the skills, confidence and friendships built along the way.

People can work at their own pace, independently or alongside others. The aim is a relaxed place where everyone has something to contribute.

FROM IDEAS TO ACTION

Make. Mend. Meet.

Activities described in the project flyer include crafts, furniture restoration and simple battery-powered electronics. Tools and materials are provided, with support from a project coordinator and volunteers — plus tea, coffee and good company.

01

No experience necessary

Whether you’re confident with tools or trying something for the first time, there is room to get involved.

02

Make & mend

Explore crafts, repairs, restoration and small practical projects at your own pace.

03

Good company

Share knowledge, meet people and enjoy the conversations that happen along the way.

THE CHANGE WE WANT TO SEE

Participants build practical confidence, learn from one another and gain regular opportunities for friendship and belonging. We want to track repeat attendance, skills gained and people’s own sense of connection.

GET INVOLVED

Come for the making. Stay for the company.
