OUR IMPACT / LEARNING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Count what counts.
And ask what changed.
We’re interested in more than activities delivered. We want to understand whether people feel welcome, what opportunities become available and how communities are better equipped to shape their futures.
HOW CHANGE HAPPENS
Small actions. Stronger communities.
Our theory of change begins with community strengths. We connect local people, knowledge, partners, spaces and resources; support practical action; and look for changes in confidence, connection, access and influence.
01 — Strengths
People, experience, ideas, relationships and local assets.
02 — Action
Listen, co-design, connect, build skills and deliver.
03 — Early change
People feel welcome, informed, more confident and connected.
04 — Lasting ambition
Stronger organisations, fairer access and more community influence.
WHAT WE’LL MEASURE
Reach. Experience. Change.
We use proportionate feedback and evidence to understand who was reached, who might still be missing, what participation felt like and what difference people experienced. Where appropriate, we use follow-up, partner reflections and project-specific measures.
HONEST ACCOUNTABILITY
No borrowed impact.
External research helps explain why a project matters; it does not prove that ACE has achieved the same results. Partner outcomes are attributed to the organisations and partnerships that delivered them. Intended change is a hypothesis we test, not a guarantee.

Bed stays provided
Reported by BENS for the 2025/26 season. Bed stays count nights of accommodation; they are not a count of different people.
BENS is owned and led by Churches Together in Basildon. ACE Impact supports coordination, communications and local connections. These figures describe the partnership’s work.
OUR NEXT CHAPTER
Evidence should lead to better action.
As projects progress, this page will bring together verified results, relevant case studies, the views of participants and what we’ve learned — including where things need to change.
